LA MORT EN FLANDRE
BY JULES DE BRUVCKER
M. Jules de Bruycker has given us an exceptionally
fine series of etchings, undeniably amongst the most
distinctive work ot the present time. These are
weird and fantastic visions, not possessing the slightest
resemblance to his former work. They depict scenes
founded on nature, but interpreted through a mind
rich in phantasmagoric fancy. In such works as
La Mort en Fiandre, La Moisson, and La Tranchee
he shows remarkable wealth of imaginative power,
convincing effect with an impressive sense of mystery.
